"....That starts with "F" and ends with "T" and that stands for....Trouble... right here in River City...". The Music Man is playing a new tune this week.
1675 FITs, up 3.8% from last week. Another $4.6 million in "equity" went down the river (up 5.6%).
So here is the question: How long will the stats keep getting worse (or better, if you are looking to buy)? There seems to be no end in sight. Nothing will change in the next 12 months, as real estate markets just don't turn that fast. Will it take another 18 months? That would be Dec. 2008. There is not much chance Jan. 2009 would be a turn-around month. This recovery keeps getting pushed out as we watch the market drop further and faster.
I believe the statistics may show some change in magnitude, but no change in direction until at least June 2009, perhaps June 2010. 4 to 5 years from June 2005.
I am just amazed at some of the homes purchased for $500K or more just two years ago that are down 30% plus. These guys who purchased these homes must be utter morons. Anybody who buys a home now is a fool, but you know what they say a fool and his money will soon be parted. Maybe FIT should stand for FOOLS IN TROUBLE.
