2007-05-06

Sorry for the delay folks. I got some much needed out-of-town time this weekend. As you can see, I haven't decided on a course of action as to the future design of the site. Most of the feedback I've received on the Google Earth approach has been positive, yet the list version has its advantages (and fans). I'll probably be doing some more experimentation in the next few weeks, if you guys are up for it. Thanks for all the input and suggestions!

Max,

Grats on getting out of town. I should schedule some time out myself.

Honestly I like it both ways. I think it comes down to defining your audience.

The Google earth is great for us bubble believers because we'll take the time to load the file and look at the destruction. I'm just sad that I haven't seen enough bad news in my area.

JoeSixPack or wife is probably won't bother with Google Earth. Too much hassle for the bad news they really don't want to hear anyways. Plus, if they get that well-mean email link from a friend at work, most workstations are so locked down that they won't be able to check the data from the office even if they wanted too.

Max, We all appreciate all your tenacious work. Overall, I prefer and vote for the list format.

I see this week there are 1238 FITs losing a collective $57,000,000. That means the average FIT lost $46,000 per home buying real estate in the last 24 months.

And just to remind your readers, the loss does not include any carrying costs over the holding period, or any selling costs upon disposal. Of course, there is no direct selling cost when you toss the keys on the roof on your way out the door!

I have enjoyed your list over the last several months, but if you switch to Google Earth, I will miss out. I have a dial-up connection (in a rural area) and cannot use Google Earth. Please keep the list format.

Wow, google earth set-up is freakin' awesome!! It's just what I would dream about for hours the last few months when I was browsing the FIT listing...I was dying for something easier, something that would show areas I was interested in, versus browsing for zip codes and addresses. Keep it please. I just felt my wallet open for a small donation, not much but as a Student I'm fairly poor. Yet, I'd understand the need for the list, especially for dial-up users. If you automated that, keep it up too.
