End of an Experiment

After a decidedly underwhelming response to my subscription plan, I’ve decided to cancel it completely and revert back to a free site. I appreciate all the positive feedback and advice everyone provided, and I’m sure there’s a way to make this worth my time while providing a valuable service to the Bubblesphere. However, it’s clear that a subscription service is not it. Of course, all those who subscribed will receive a full refund.

Yes. I never got that I would have to pay to see how much money other people are losing.

Max, Please do not refund my subscription. I will just send it back to you in the donation tab to the right. You data here has saved me from making a very big mistake. Since I did not by that home in 2005, it has not cost me the 15% drop in value Placer County has experienced in the last 18 months. So $50 is a small price to pay. I plan to save over $300,000 in price reductions when I do buy in 2008.

And to other readers, if you have a generous spirit and want to encourage Max to keep up the good work, drop a donation in his Pay Pal box.

Bubble watchers are cheapskates. OK fine we are pragmatic, conservative, brown bagging, free coffee drinking, hard working, astute cheapskates. I am glad in a sense (no offense) that your plan didn't take off, cos I definitely would have felt like a fish out of water in there. Your target audience ... well appreciates you and what you do.
Cool.

Sell your data as a subcription service to the local newspaper!

Thank you very much for doing this for free (again).

This is such great information.

I think your experiment was interesting. From an economic standpoint, you just haven't figured out the "breakpoint" at which are willing to pay. Would I pay $2 per month to see your data? YES!! Would I pay $5? Maybe. $10...probably not. For all your time and energy, you deserve something from this "cheap-skate" community. If many people chose to pay $2 or $1 per month, then you'd at least get something for your time.

At this point, I'm happy people are still clicking on my ads. :)

Seriously, I have some plans for a real interactive site, but I probably won't get to it before the holidays...
